The IBIOLAB consortium consists of 4 associations (IAGs), 12 SMEs and 6 RTD performers, coming from 7 European countries:

ITERG - INSTITUT DES CORPS GRAS - Project Coordinator and RTD ITERG is a technical research centre for businesses from the oils and fats industry. The centre specialises in oils and fats analysis, lipid nutrition, lipochemistry and fat-production and transformation technology. Iterg is a provider of expertise and know-how for all manufacturers and users of oils and fats. (F)

Associations

FEDIOL - The EU Oil and Proteinmeal IndustryFEDIOL represents an industry that crushes about 30 million tonnes of oilseed per year, making it the 3rd largest oilseed crusher after the US and China. Members of the FEDIOL employs about 20,000 people in approximately 150 production facilities in the EU. FEDIOL is composed by 13 National Associations and will disseminate the project results through its National Associations in 12 European countries: Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Italy, Netherlands, Portugal, Spain, Sweden, and United Kingdom. FEDIOL’s role is to represent "globally" the various interests of the vegetable oils and fats industry in the European Union.(BE)
VALBIOMVALBIOM - Valorisation de la Biomasse asbl ValBiom is a non profit association that works to promote the non food applications of biomass. ValBiom represents farmers, agricultural traders, industries and scientific research, is requested by the Ministry of Agriculture to set up non food agricultural chains in Wallonia and to perform a technological watch. The achievements are mostly about biofuels and biolubricants based on rapeseed oil. It integrates 12 associations, 20 Industrials and also 12 Scientific Institutions.(BE)
ONIDOL - Organisation National Interprofessionnelle des Oléagineux ONIDOL was founded in 1978 as an organisation gathering the main French professional organisations dealing with the production, processing and use of the oilseeds e.g. feed, crushing, refining and biodiesel industries. ONIDOL is one of the bodies of the oilseed professional group in France so-called PROLEA. This original structure allows ONIDOL to keep in permanent contact with the main public research labs, growers associations, co-operatives and industrial companies involved in the oilseeds sector in France and therefore to get useful information on the sector. Since more than 25 years, ONIDOL promotes the production and the uses of the oilseeds crops and their related processed products for both food and nonfood markets.(F)
AGRAGEX The Spanish Manufacturers – Exporters Association of Agricultural Machinery, Components, Irrigation Systems, Livestock and Post Harvesting Equipment – AGRAGEX, a non-profit organization, is currently comprised by 163 associated companies spread out across the whole of Spain and responsible for 96% of the exports within the sector. Our main aim is to promote our companies abroad. In order to achieve its objectives, AGRAGEX carries out a number of different promotional activities, such as: participation in major international trade shows, direct trade delegations, organisation of foreign buyers’ delegations to Spain, inward press missions, seminars, market studies and analysis, channeling of enquiries as well as a variety of advertising activities in trade magazines, mailings, catalogues, etc.(ES)

STEARINERIE DUBOIS FILS Stearinerie Dubois Fils is a French private company which was founded in 1820 by Mr Theodose Dubois for the production of candles from stearic acid. Nowadays, Dubois is no more involved in this production. But thanks to its deep knowledge of fatty chemicals, Dubois is today well-known as a leader in the production of fatty acid esters.Dubois is today active in four main businesses: Industrial applications, Cosmetics, Pharmaceuticals and Food. Concerning industrial applications, esters are mainly sold in the Lubricants (automotive and industrial lubes), Coatings and Polymers industries.(F)
LUBRIX S.A The core activity of LUBRIX is the development, manufacturing and sales of synthetic, semi-synthetic fluids built-up for specific industrial applications (corrosion inhibitors, hydraulic fluids, coolants for machine-tools, i.e: turning, milling, broaching, drilling, sawing, threading, grinding, honing, punching, stamping, electro-erosion), cold and hot drawing fluids for ferrous and non ferrous metals, cleaners for related applications. Market Development and Laboratory works in the activities of research, development, tuning, production feasibility.(BE)
BARALDI Lubrificanti BARALDI (17 employees) was established in 1917, since the company has been able to adapt our products to the technical evolution and the capacities of cooperation with the costumer. Our horizons are: the research, transfer of competences, and development of highly innovative technologies, which are able to improve the manufacturing production system. Objective is to create products in collaboration with the end user, to become actively involved in problems regarding lubrication of the die, thus giving an added value to the production of the release agent. BARALDI is specialised in the R&D and production of release agents and special lubricants for aluminium die-casting and iron steel process. BARALDI is participating to two EU projects (CRAFT) dealing with bio-lubricants.(I)
DOIMAK S.A DOIMAK is a SME grinding machine manufacturer with 32 employees and sales of 4 million Euro. DOIMAK develop different types of grinding machines with numerical control: universal grinders, cylindrical grinders, multi-functional grinders, external and internal grinders, gear grinders, cam grinders, screw thread grinders, camshaft grinders and grinders for hobbing cutters.DOIMAK has experience in European projects (GANOPTI, KNOBA, MEDECOTHER, REMATOVI, ARMMS, LUBRICOAT) and national projects always developing new prototypes to extend their products in the grinding field.(ES)
ZERO WASTE The mission of ZW (4 employees) is to offer to the industry the best lubricants and services to satisfy their needs. ZW is a recently created company, providing services and technical expertise to the mechanical industry in the field of industrial lubrication. ZW is supplying industrial lubricants to the industry where needs of biodegradable and user friendly lubricants is increasing. ZW has 2,500 clients, including 2.3% for bio-lubricants.(F)
VANDEPUTTE Oleochemicals S.A Vandeputte Oleochemicals (15 employees) is producing derivates from vegetable oils: mainly standoils, boiled oils and others functionalised oils from linseed oil but also from soya oil, safflower oil, tung oil, sunflower oil. Main applications of these products are: paints, varnishes, coatings, printing inks and lubricant. Functionalised oils are also raw materials for resins, vegetable based polymers, water based products. R&D lab is working on new applications for modified vegetable oils in different areas : polymers, plasticiers, lubricants.(BE)
Brugarolas S.A. BSA - (131 employees) is the first lubricating grease producer in Spain with more then 115 years of history. It’s activities are production and commercialisation of lubricants, metalworking fluids, rust preventives, release agents, coolants, car auxiliary products, etc. It involves products based on mineral oil, synthetic oils, vegetable oils, solvents and water. The application fields are practically all the industry (automotive, cement, food, textile, steel, wood, chemical, etc.), mining, agriculture, public works, marine, etc. The R&D Department is divided in 4 labs, dealing with R&D activities on the fields of Lubricating Oils, Lubricating Greases, Metalworking fluids and Anti-freeze (coolants) agents and car auxiliary products respectively. The involved R&D labs in the project will be the first three ones. BSA will be deeply involved in the management of the project.(ES)
SOGELUB Founded in 1976, SOGELUB (35 employees) produces and markets special lubricants for the industry. The aims of SOGELUB are to extend lubrication intervals, diminish consumption and reduce wear on mechanical parts and equipments. To achieve this, we formulate special lubricants for extreme applications : very high and low temperatures, extreme heat variations, high and low rotation speeds, heavy loads, aggressive atmospheres. 70% of the SOGELUB products are based on esters bases (natural or synthetic esters). 40 clients are directly concerned by the bio-lubricants to be developed in the project.(BE)
NATOIL Natoil AG is a private owned company devoted to the development and marketing of high performance lubricants based on renewable raw materials. The company’s products display all the required properties for the use in industrial and technical applications and they often surpass the performance of mineral oil or synthetic based lubricants. Natoil products are recommended for various applications wherever mineral or synthetic based oils are used, as for road transport, railroad, steel and mining industry, agriculture and construction. High performance, sustainability and ecological awareness are the key arguments for the use of Natoil products and constitute the centre of company’s philosophy(CH)
RS CLARE RS Clare & Co Ltd (65 employees) was founded in Liverpool in 1748 making them the longest established company manufacturing lubricants in the United Kingdom. Our Industrial Lubricants division sell speciality products into the Rail, Oil & Gas, Steel, Marine and Automotive industries throughout the world. RS Clare are market leaders for the supply of advanced track lubricants to the International Rail Industry. We work in partnership with British Rail, Railtrack, Network Rail, London Underground and Netherlands Rail, delivering solutions to improve performance and reduce maintenance costs.(UK)
ABAMOTOR Energía, SL Abamotor Energía; SL is a SME manufacturer of 2 stroke petrol engines, 4 stroke diesel engines, gensets and motopumps. The company has 49 employees with a turnover of 4 MK. Since the scope of the European Ecolabel has ben centred in the 2 stroke engines, then ABAMOTOR Energia, would like to introduce the biodegradable lubricants in the 2 stroke engines.(ES)
PANOLIN A.G. PANOLIN is a company specialised in the development, the production and the distribution of lubricants in general, but mainly in biologically degradable lubricants, e.g. hydraulic fluids. PANOLIN biodegradable lubricants have always led the market. Not only do they incorporate the latest innovations and technology, but they also comply with the most stringent demands for environmental compatibility.(CH)

RTD performers

BFB Oil Research S.A. BFB is an ISO 17025 control and research laboratory working in the field of lubricants, fuels, automotive products. The laboratory core activity is research and development of new formulation for lubricants or additives, looking for higher performance and lower cost, physico-chemical analysis and performance tests, product characterisation, evaluation of environment impact by biodegradability and toxicity tests, and new procedure development .(BE)
fusagx_gemblouxUniversity of Gembloux – Chimie Biologie Industrielle The University Faculty of Gembloux is the oldest Belgian institution of teaching and research devoted entirely to agronomy and biological engineering, activities which has gained worldwide reputation. These are organized around three topics: Agronomic Sciences, environmental Sciences and Technologies and chemistry and Bioindustries. 33 units and laboratories contribute the research activities in applied biochemistry, plant and animal production, processing, national and regional management. Department of Chemistry is mainly working on the product valorisation from biomass in non food sector, study of the structure-function relationships of biomolecules and surfactants, characterization of interfacial properties, development of new surfactants from biomass, product formulation (foam, gels, emulsion,…).(BE)
INP - Institut National Polytechnique de Toulouse – Laboratoire de Chimie Agro-Industrielle – UMR 1010 INRA INPT ENSIACET The acquisition of knowledge on the chemical structures and the properties of the agro-molecules as well as the study of their reactivity constitute the essence of our scientific research. The valorisation of agro-resources for non-food application is also a priority for UCAI. To promote sustainable resources, they propose two strategies: 1. the development of ecologically compatible processes for production of intermediary compounds from agricultural resources; 2. the development of new products with novel properties from these intermediates. Our department works on the Lipo-chemistry and Reactivity of Agro-resources.(F)
BAM The “Federal Institute for Materials research and Testing” is a non-profit scientifictechnological Institute under the direct authority of the Federal Minister of Economics and Labor. As the national chemical and materials technological institute, BAM is organized in ten departments and 33 divisions, working within the interconnected fields of materials, chemistry, and environmental safety to promote German industry. The division taking part in the IBIOLAB project offers more than 30 years of experience in the field of lubrication, friction and wear (tribology), with alternative engine oils and tribomaterials in the projects (Cleanengine, ABRATIP, EREBIO, BMWA 14/02) together with others of purely industrial fundings.(DE)
Fundacion TEKNIKER TEKNIKER is a non profit research center devoted to develop technologies and transfer to the industries. Activities are divided in four departments: Engineering Production, Nano & micro technologies, Mecatronic and Manufacturing processes being this last one involved in IBIOLAB Project. TEKNIKER works in the development of lubricants and tribology since 1982, being involved since 1985 in the development of biodegradable oils, participating in the following projects (CTVO-Net, SUNOIL, DECOLUB, BIOGREASE, BIOMON, LLINCWA, EREBIO, LUVE, MEFOLUB). In thefield of lifecycle analysis, special attention has been taken, in evaluate the lifecycle analysis of lubricants and coatings (LUBRICOAT, EREBIO, NANOMAG, LUVE). The knowledge acquired in these projects will be used in the IBIOLAB project to develop a new cost effective generation of biolubricants.(ES)
